Julia Fiona Roberts was born in Atlanta on October 28, 1967 to Betty Lou Bredemus and Walter Grady Roberts. Julia Fiona Roberts is the fourth generation Roberts who reside in Atlanta. At an early age, her father was interested in theatre. When he was in school at Emory University in 1952 he performed in shows on campus and in Atlanta. He joined the Air Force in 1953. During his time working in Biloxi Mississippi, he was a part of a military production that included Betty Lou Bredemus who was as well in Air Force. They got married in the year 1955 and the couple's first child Eric Anthony was born in 1956. Walter went to Tulane University New Orleans Louisiana after he left the Airforce in the year 1957. Walter was employed as a technician by Atlanta Academy Theater and Harrington Scenic and Lighting Studio to assist on the stage of the television show Bum Bum His Buddies, which aired in Decatur Georgia. Walter and Betty Lou financed their own production of a local Sunday morning children's show, Bum Bum and His Buddies. They also founded the six-year Actors and Writers Workshop later the same year. Lelisa Billingsley who is also referred to as Lisa, was born in 1965. Julia Billingsley followed in 1967.
