A baby was strapped to my back as the other crawled in the playpen. I spent 12 hours days over months of sanding, and stripping wallpaper with one child. Ha! The home was beginning to look nice, but there were a few things left. For this project I had planned to spend a considerable amount of money and time searching for the perfect home. To stay the cost within my means, I took my boys along to search for gems hidden in estate sales. Our weekly routine was to spend Thursday-Saturday walking through garage and estate sales buying a mixture of antique and brand new furniture and then I would spend weekends painting and sanding the driveway. My love for furniture repair began with a look that was similar to this. Even though the house was fully decorated, I was unable to quit. In the market in town, I rented a small space and sold some items. Eventually, I had too lots of pieces to keep in the space available. Then I began hosting open houses at my house which saw over 1 000 guests would come through in a single weekend and could buy anything they saw in the first floor. It was here that my business Growing Days was born. Growing Days was not only an extremely successful company, it was as well my family. As a mom of a child, I found the right way to be able to begin my own company and become a great mother. Growing Days seemed like the ideal fit. Nora joined us in 2013 and became our fourth baby. This was a fantastic direction for my business, however, I needed an escape. I decided to put off working on my antique furniture for a few months and stay home with the children. It was just what I needed. It was only after several months when the phones began to call. People contacted me asking to help them with interior decor and home renovations. Most of these people were those who had walked through my property during open houses for furniture! In the following months, I began to take on more clients, according to my own pace. Then I was able to have many clients and I was running as a home improvement business. If you'd told me that my business would be the basis for a DIY Network show, I might have laughed. In fact, I laugh a little when I remember the episode.
